THE LAWRENCE DICTIONARY OF LAUGHS

THE
LAWRENCE DICTIONARY
OF LAUGHS

--------------------------//-------------------------

PREFACE
This dictionary provides msn addicts with a convenient guide to the spelling, meaning and usage of the words used in response to an amusing remark.
In order to save space, the swung dash (~) is substituted for -ha or -ol in relation to examples.
In some cases, these headwords are connected with an arbitrary number of repetitions. This will be explained later. If this were to happen, the swung dash, accompanied with an "n" (~n) will be used, to signify an unknown number of repetitions.
due to the lack of the sign, the greater than or equal to sign will be >_, and similiarly, the less than or equal to sign will be <_.

I.C.U.P (haha...)
DICTIONARY
aha: originally discovered as an alternative to haha, because of its ease in typing in comparison to haha, it is essentially a perfect synonym to haha. SEE HA.

foc-: this is a prefix to other laughing acronyms, such as lmao, pmsl, lol, or rotfl. itself, means Falling Off Chair.

ha: this derivative of the laugh is second lowest in its strength.
ha~n
where n=0; signifies a funny remark; eg: ha
where n=1; signifies a very funny remark; eg: haha
where n>_2; signifies an insanely funny remark, one which we can safely say actually makes the person writing it laugh in real life. eg: hahahahahaha
ha~nh: this is an the ultimate in funny remarks, since the person is laughing so hard, that he has typed it out too fast, accidentally omitting the extra "a" after the "h". NOTE: it does not matter what number of "-ha" repetitions there are, the omission of the "a" is a sure sign of a very funny remark. aim for this at all times.

he: similiar to "ha", but is rather low in its strength. no matter what you do to manipulate this word, like repeating, capitalisiing, adding a full stop or exclamation, adding mistakes, missing the "e", it will never be as funny as even one "ha". everybody should be aiming much higher than this.

lmao: This stands for Laughing My Ass Off. This seems to be rather new word, its inception into the public domain of msn having been within the last two years. Never repeated. Equivalent to "lolol!".

lol: This stands for laughing out loud. This is a very commonly used derivative to "ha" in relation to a remark being funny, and is represents a greater humour than that appropriated to "ha". of the common root laughing remarks, this is probably of the greatest strength.
lol~n
where n=0; signifies a funny remark; eg: lol
where n=1; signifies a very funny remark; eg: lolol
where n>_2; signifies an insanely funny remark, one which we can safely say actually makes the person writing it laugh in real life. eg: lolololololololol
ol~no: this is an the ultimate in funny remarks, since the person is laughing so hard, that he has typed it out too fast, accidentally omitting the extra "l" after the "o". NOTE: it does not matter what number of "-ol" repetitions there are, the omission of the "l" is a sure sign of a very funny remark. aim for this at all times.

pmsl: This stands for Pissing MySelf Laughing. this never has repetitions, and if somebody tries to repeat this, it simply means that its even less funny. the strength of this word is equivalent to "ahahaha" or "hahaha" or "lolol"
rotfl: also known as rofl, it stands for Rolling on the Floor Laughing. this never has any repetitions either. equivalent to "ahahahaha" or "hahahaha" or "lolol!"

APPENDIX:
1.1FULL STOP
When this is used for words with no repetitions, these words signify a remark is actually LESS funny that a word without a full stop. i.e.: "aha." is less funny than "aha". One thing to note is that specifically with "aha" or "ha", this can actually mean "aha."(ok, wtf are you talking about...). basically its sounds like "uhuh."
when used with words with one or more repititions, it signifies a funnier remark than the same word(with the same repetitions)without a full stop.
1.2EXCLAMATION MARK
When this is used for any word, it signifies a funnier remark than the same word(with the same repetitions) without a full stop.
1.3 CAPITALS
This signifies a funnier remark than the same word without capitals. much more stronger than either the full stop and exclamation mark in their representation of increased humour.
1.4 MISTAKES IN TYPING OF WORD (i.e. hahahahhhhahahahhhhh)
This has the same degree in its representation of greater humour as that appropriated with the omission of an "a" or an "l".
1.5 COMBINATIONS OF WORDS/PREFIXES
These only represent an increase in humour if the link can be diciphered, i.e. roflmao (rolling on the floor laughing my ass off)
1.6 USE OF OTHER ALPHANUMERICAL SYMBOLS
The use of other symbols such as "~" used in such phrases as "lol~!", or the substitution of alphanumerical emoticons, or addition, of words, just goes to signify that the other person actually had the time to find these other characters on the keyboard, meaning it wasn't funny enough to be replied to quickly.

THE ULTIMATE IN ALL RESPONSES.
this is the big one.
LOLOLOLOLLLLOLOLOLLOLLLOLO!
the combination of a number of repetitions, mistakes, capitals, exclamation marks, and an omission of an "l" at the end.
